Overview

Volantis Academy is an aviation training initiative that starts with Non-Destructive Testing (NDT). falcani had already created its brand and its websites (you can read that story in the brand and website case study). The next step was the product at the heart of the business: the campus where courses are taken, exams are passed, and certificates are earned.

The Challenge

• Completion matters. Online courses are easy to start and easy to abandon, and a training business lives or dies by learners who finish.
• Credentials must be credible. A certificate is only worth something if an employer can confirm it is real and the exam behind it was fair.
• Companies buy for teams. Organizations need to purchase seats, assign them, and see who is trained, who is mid-course, and whose qualification has expired.
• A global audience. The founders are spread across Dubai, Mexico, and the US, and learners speak more than one language.

Our Solutions

1. A content system the team controls Courses are authored in a headless CMS and organized into modules and lessons. Lessons can be written in rich Markdown (with math and code) or built as interactive slides, and they can include video, attachments, and quizzes. Videos upload straight from the browser to a video CDN, so large files never choke the application.

2. Try before you buy Visitors can enter as guests and take the first three lessons with no sign-up. When they register, their progress moves with them. Sign-in uses a one-time code sent to the learner’s email, so there is no password to forget.

3. Progress that is earned, not clicked A lesson counts as complete only after real engagement: enough of the lesson’s duration and content viewed, or enough slides seen for a minimum time each. The rules are enforced on the server, so progress cannot be faked from the browser.

4. Payments for individuals and companies Secure checkout for individual courses, corporate seat purchases, a billing portal where customers manage their own invoices, and courtesy invitations that let the Volantis team grant access to paid courses.

5. Supervised exams and verifiable certificates Final exams have a configurable passing score, time limit, attempt limit, and cool-down, with questions and answers shuffled. Anti-cheating signals such as switching tabs, leaving the window, copying, or opening developer tools count as strikes. Passing automatically issues a certificate with a unique number, a PDF download, and a public page where anyone can verify it without logging in.

6. A dashboard for organizations Companies create their organization, buy seat pools, invite people by email, and assign seats in bulk. A roster and qualification matrix shows who is trained, who is in progress, and whose record has expired, with license history and team insights.

7. Built for a bilingual audience The interface works in English and Spanish today, with the architecture ready for new languages and, over time, new course content. Guided product tours and an audit log round out the experience.
